This novel deals with alternate history. Think about other major events in history and what might have happened if they turned out differently. Give an example of one historical event and then explain how the world would have been different if the event had ended differently. 1. Jack Poupore Says:

If Germany and thier allies would have won WWII the world would be drastically different. Firstly, there would be a lot of prosecution for religion and color. Next, there would be many communists and perhaps a “ruler of the world” if someone was that eager for power. In fact, if they won the war we would not have seen many things including modern music, TV, and many other devises. Lastly, there most likely would not be an England and the Japanese might control Asia.

  2. Sydney Carter 8B Says:

The world would be very different if we had not won the Civil War. We would still be divided and Slavery would still be occurring for a little while longer. There would be less immigrants in the South, and racism would be a lot higher than it is now.

  3. Dillon C. Says:

What if world war 2 was lost? What if we were still fighting the war because the United States did not drop the atomic bomb? There are a lot of what-ifs that we wonder what will happen, but the don’t happen because God makes everything happen for a reason. God has a plan for everything. Even though we stopped the world war 2, what if we did not drop the bomb, and we are still fighting. Tis is what I would think would happen,we would still be fighting, but every time we have the olympics, we would stop just a little, but we would still fight, and we would not be at war with Iraq right now because we are still in world war 2. Hitler would still be alive, and has taken up 3 continents. a lot more citizens of the United states would be losing more lives every day. The draft would still exist, and 18 year olds are hiding because they don’t want to go to war. Porte Rico has been concord by Germany, and half of Switzerland is rolling around the streets, because they are preparing for an attack. all of the beaches are off limits for pedestrians, because the military is getting ready for an attack. That is what i think what would happen if world war 2 was still going.

  4. Julie L Says:

Another major event in history is the Civil War of the United States. If the North would have lost there would be some major differences in our world today. For one thing we would probably still have slavery in the states. If we didn’t have slavery we would have segregation. The colored people of our world today wouldn’t be as free to express themselves. Another difference is our country would be more of an agricultural community than a technological community.

  5. Jordan S Says:

It would be interesting to see what would happen if the Germans had won World War II. Hitler would have probably taken over the world and made sure everyone was blonde-haired and blue-eyed. He would have a dictatorship over all of our lives. It would have been a horrible world if the Germans had won World War II.

  6. One historical event that could have gone wrong could have been WWII. If we would have lost that war we would lose much. For one nearly all jews would have already been killed by Hitler. Also many Jews in America are film writers and invented many new things. So if we lost them we wouldn’t have some motion picture films. We would also live in a world of racism and this would affect many lives. This is what could have happened if Hitler won WWII

  7. EthanH Says:

What if Hitler won the war? He might have gone on to conquer the world. There would be no diversity and every one would be exactly the same. Everybody would be Christian with blond hair and blue eyes, being ruled over by someone (because by now hitler would probably be dead). The world would just stop because he has taken out all the chance that progress would be made. And there would be no Lewis black because he is Jewish. No comedy. That would be a terrible world.

  8. meghanr Says:

Year of the hangman only deals with on instance where if the outcome had been different the world today would be dramatically different. For example, if the Confederacy had won the Civil War. We could still have slavery in the United States or the United States would be divided into the Union and the Confederacy. The United States would have been nonexistent and it definitely would not have become the world power it is today. The revolutionary War was not the only thing that could have destroyed the United States as it is today.

  9. Anthony K. Says:

One major event in history was 911. If 911 never happened or it turned out differently like the terroists missed the Twin Towers, the world would be very different. If that had happened, there would not be as much killing, wars, or even terroism is this world. Also, people would still be able to have their jobs in the Twin Towers. Another one is that airlines and also airports would be different. The world, in my eyes, would have these differences if 911 never happened or if the terroists missed the Twin Towers.

  10. Alexia O Says:

I think that if we went to the past that things like the Revolutionary War would be different. I think that the outcome of the Civil War would be different. I think that if the Confederate States of America won the war that there would still be slavery in the United States. The world would be different because there might be more slavery in countries like China and India. This is what I think would happen in an alternate history.

  11. Sarah F Says:

One example of an event in history that would have changed our world if it turned out differently would be the Civil War. If, for example, the Confederates had won the war, we might still have slaves doing all of our work for us, we might constantly participate in undiluted hatred of a race, and all of us might be participating in total segregation. However, if the Confederates had won, President Lincoln might not have been assassinated, he might have been able to lead a 2nd Civil War that would eventually gain the ideals that the democracy of America supports today. However, another outcome might be that President Lincol would have been killed anyway for leading the Union cause, and in school we would learn about the glory of Jefferson Davis and how he successfully led a revolt that supported the idea that white people were superior. You never know. If but one moment in history had turned against the Union cause, our ideas of freedom might be very different today. In in any of those single moments that made up time an event had turned against the cause of freedom, history would have altered its course.

  12. Juliana C Says:

President Abraham Lincoln is known today as a legend for passing the thirteenth amendment and putting an end to slavery in the United States. But what if that had never happened? If slavery had never been abolished we would live in a very different world. Many inventions, companies, and major ideas were found by black people so there would be a lot less of all those things. If slavery was still here people would be constantly fighting still trying to get rid of it which would make living here in the south very unsafe. If slavery had never been ended, the country would be a very divided, depressing place.

  13. Kate K Says:

If the Union had lost the Civil War, the United States probably wouldn’t exist. Instead of the United States of America, our country would be called the Confederate States of America. I also think that slavery would continue even today if the Union had lost the war. If the Union had lost the war, I think that Abraham Lincoln wouldn’t have been assissinated. This is what I think would happen if the Union had lost the Civil War.

  14. Michael S Says:

The civil war was a major point in history. If we lost america would be very diferent. For example we would run under a confederacy instead of a democracy. We would also probably still own slaves. Because the south relied mostly on farming and not on industry, we might also not even be as advanced in technology as we are today. We would be living a very diferent lives.

  15. michael myers Says:

WWII was a major event in history. If the Nazis had won, more and more jews would have died and the nazis would have taken over the world. everyone who would not have blonde hair and blue eyes would be either killed or put into slavery. also the jewish religon would be completely wiped out. hundreds of millions of peoples lives would be lost if the evnts in this history wouldnt have unfolded the way they did.

  16. Mackenzie E. Says:

One major event that would have effected our world if it had ended differently is the Civil War. In this war the North beat the South. If the South would have won, our world today would probably be very different. It would be because if the South had one, slavery wouldn’t have ended and we might still have slavery today. This would have made a big impact on America and I’m glad that the North won.

  17. Abby W Says:

There are many major events to chose from. What I’m going to write about is the Civil War. If the North would have lost, and the South would have won, there just might still be slavery to this very day! The world would be differnet in many days. All the African
Americans we would see everyday, would problary be slaves. And things might be a lot harsher. African Americans would be treated just like they were when slavery began.
And Barack Obama would problary not be running for president!

  18. Jennie D. Says:

What would happen if Hitler and his army had won World War II? Well, if the Nazis were to have won WWII the world would be total chaos. The Nazis would have invaded the US and many other countries along with that. There would have been over six million more deaths than there already were due to concentration camps and shootings. The world would be much different now and there wouldn’t be freedom at all in places like Denmark and Norway. That is why I think the world would be different if the Nazis had won World War II.

  19. NICKM Says:

If I had to pick one major event in history I would pick World War II. Let’s say that Germany and Japan won, well then right now we would most likely be speaking German or Japanese. Also America would be no more along with most of the world. Next the government would monitor our every move. If we made one wrong move or said something anti-government related, as we are so familiar with in society, we probably be killed or thrown in jail. Finally I think the Jewish culture, beliefs and history would all be wiped off the face of the Earth and they would try to make us believe that the religion itself had never even existed. Thus, I am very happy to be able to say that Axis did not win WWII and I’m not monitored by the corrupt government.

  20. Ellen S Says:

One historical event that would change history if it had an alternative ending would be, if the Civil War turned out different. This would be different because most likely we would have slaves and different laws. African Americans would probably not be what they are today, musicians, athletes, congress men and women, and etc. Life would be very different, like if we didnt have people today like Condeliza Rice, Stevie Wonder, and amazing athletes like Usain Bolt and Micheal Jordan. That is what I think would happen if The Civil Wars was not won by the Union. That is my alternative ending.

  21. Jacob H. Says:

One historical event is the civil war. If it had ended differently, maybe slavery would still be going on. Slavery could be a thing of the entire United States. The entire African American population of America would be slaves. The States would definitely be a different place with slavery.

  22. Tommy E. Says:

An historical event that would have been different if the event had ended differently is the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The devastating attacks could have changed very much if the planes were stopped or taken down. The people in the planes would die but the thousands of people that were killed by this terrible attack would not be harmed. The world would be very different because all of those people that died would still have life. Also, one of the world’s tallest buildings would still be standing. The attacks brought many fears of terrorists in the future. That was a very sad day but the world would be a lot different if it didn’t happen.

  23. Dylan T. Says:

If the Civil War had an outcome that is different from the one that happened, some things would be very different. If the Union lost, and the Confederates won, then there wouldn’t be that much of a difference today because it happened around 150 years ago. It could be different by there still might be some slavery and there could be more or less laws that we would have to follow. People could be against different people and there could be more wars if the Confederates won. That is how life could be different if the Confederates won the Civil War instead of the Union.

  24. Jillian L Says:

What if the North had lost the Civil War? If the Confederacy had won the Civil War there would have been slavery for much longer. There might have even been slavery in modern times. If slavery had ended in say the 1950s, then the civil rights movement wouldn’t have happened until about 2000. I know that the South would have more control of the USA’s economy. Who knows what life would have been like if the North had lost the Civil War.

  25. Haley G. Says:

A major event in history that might have been changed if it not had happened would be the Bombing of the Twin Towers on September 11th. The world would be changed because September 11th would be a regular day not a tragic remembrance of the disaster that happened that day. We wouldn’t have fear of being bombed, because that day was a wake up call that we would have to step up security. People wouldn’t be afraid to travel or have very many restrictions on packing. If September 11th did not happen just think of all of the lives that would have been saved, all the people who lost someone would be alive today. Most importantly the Twin towers would still be standing proudly in New York. That is a major event in history that the world would be changed if it not happened.

  26. Bridgette Strzok Says:

    Bridgette Strzok 8A
This novel deals with alternate history. Think about other major events in history and what might have happened if they turned out differently. Give an example of one historical event and then explain how the world would have been different if the event had ended differently.
I can relate this to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. If he weren’t to have been assassinated, what would have happened? The south would have not had such harsh protection on the south, and we would not have to had to deal with such a harsh mourning when Abraham Lincoln died. Most importantly, Abraham’s bright plans for reconstruction will not have been destroyed.

  27. Jack D Says:

An example of a historical event is the Civil War. Our country would change a lot if the Confederacy beat the Union. The Confederates were fighting for slavery, so slavery might still be in the U.S. today unless another war would take place and the Union would be victorious. Slavery would have still exist though at least for another year or so and the South’s economy might have improved a lot. But, Lincoln might not have been assassinated if the South won the war so he might have been able to help the Union fight the Confederacy back. There also would probably be more slave uprisings which would bring violence to the states even after the war. In conclusion, the United States would be a very good place after the war ended if the Confederacy beat the Union.

  28. Natalie D (8B) Says:

A historical event that would have changed the world if it went differently is the Civil War. If the North won there probably still be slaves. Also if the South won the country would most likely still be divided. Another thing that would happen is that the 14th Amendment wouldn’t exist, and all the people that were foreign and had kids in America, the kids wouldn’t be citizens. That is an historical event and what would happen if it turned out differently.

  29. Rachel W Says:

One historical event that would’ve have been differant if it had an alternaive ending is the Civil Rights Act of 1866. This would of had a major impact on the United States if this law had not been made. African Americans might’ve had differant rights then white Americans. This would’ve been a lot differant then what it’s like today.

  30. Shannon e Says:

If I had to pick one major event in history I would pick World War 2. If Germany and Japan won there would be many differences in America. Such as our language which would probably be German or Japanese. The government would probably be watching everything we do like our phone calls. If you said anything wrong you could be put in jail or killed. Also religion may not exist not even jewish. I am happy to say that Japan and Germany did not win World War II.

  31. Whitney H (8a) Says:

World War 2 is the major event in history that I would pick. If Germany had one the war a lot of the places might be run by Germany and it’s dictator (Adolf Hitler). If this had happened we might be living in a very different society than we are living in now. If we were being run by a dictator and we spoke against him or the government, we could be thrown in jail or killed. If we were to be run by a dictator we wouldn’t have the freedoms that we have now such as, freedom of speech. We also wouldn’t be allowed to elect our government officials.

  32. Jacqueline M 8b Says:

One example of a historical event that could have ended differently is the Civil War. If the Confederates had won, many things could have occurred. First of all, Abraham Lincoln probably wouldn’t have been assassinated. Also, slavery would probably still exist today. Whites would have more freedoms and more rights than African Americans. Our country would be very different if the Union had lost the Civil War.

  33. Nick D 8B Says:

What if the Revolutionary war? What if the british had won? The United States would not exsist and we would have a whole different culture. We might still be fighting the wa today. Without this major event the United States might not exsist.

  34. Christian Fischer Says:

What if the North never won the Civil War? What would be different? I think if the North did not win the Civil War there would be a lot of problems today. Slavery probably could be still around in America today. There would also be a lot of racism today. Maybe there could have been a second Civil War in America to try to stop slavery again, but what if the North won this time. Would we still have separate places for whites and African Americans today? I am glad that the North won the Civil War not the South and I am glad that slavery is illegal.

  35. TOMR Says:

One huge event in the world that I would pick would be the Big Bang. If this event never happened then we would never be here. It would be impossible to do anything because we would not be created.

  36. nate h Says:

A huge moment in American history is the Civil War. What if the Union lost? First of all, we probably would be called the Confederate States of America instead of the United States. There would probably slaves doing all the work for us. Our country would probably be a lot less industrial, and more agricultural. Our country would be a lot different of the Confederates won the Civil War.

  37. AndrewM Says:

What if World war 2 was lost? If World War II was lost not only would all of Europe be considered Germany but we would probably be still a dictatorship or communisit country. We would probably have no freedom of speech or freedom of religion. Every Jew might have been killed, so it might not even be a religion. Cathoolics might have to practice there religion in private. The Germans might have later taken over the whole world….

  38. Julian D Says:

The Civil War was a major war in America’s history that left an impact. If the North had lost, things would have been different. For example, slavery would probably have been around a lot longer. Also, many African Americans may not have the same rights and have to deal with discrimination today. Lincoln would also have gotten in a lot of trouble for leading the Union. I, for one, am glad that the North won the war.

  39. BEN Says:

This is an event that i think would have a huge impact on the history of the world if it had ended differently. I think that if the Axis powers had gained the upper hand i WWII and the D-Day missions in Eurpoe and the Pacific had failed the world would be a much different place than we know today.Hitler would and Mousileiny would have complete control of Eurospe and possibly the U.S. and Japan would have control over aisa. That is an event that i think would have a dramatic impact on the history of the world.

  40. Matthew G 8B Says:

One historical event that is very important to how the world is today was World War II. If Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Regime and the Japenese army had defeated the United States, Great Britain, and the rest of the Allied Forces, most of Europe and possibly the rest of the world would be under Nazi control and would be run by Adolf Hitler’s dictatorship and possibly the Japenese. We would have few freedoms and the entire Jewish culture would probably be wiped out. We would have to live our lives exactly as Hitler would want us to or we would risk possible death or imprisonment. Speaking out against government would also be risking your life. The world would be a terrible place if Hitler was in control.

  41. Elias Newcomb Says:

If the United States had not won the war with Mexico, then the U.S. would be a lot smaller. The state of Sonora and we would be Mexico citizens.

  42. Allison C Says:

What if the Germans won World War II? If this happened than Hitler would have taken over the world. He would have had all the Jews killed. All the people would have to be blue-eyed and have blonde hair. Everyone would look exactly the same. If you didn’t look like this you probably would have been killed or you would become a slave. The world would be a horrible place and we would have no freedom if Hitler and his army won World War II.

  43. Ryan S Says:

I have always wondered what would happen if the terrorists attacks on September 11th didn’t happen. The United States would be very different right now because we probably wouldn’t have to fight so much in Iraq and Afghanistan. Are country has many problems with it today but this is one of the big ones and our world could’ve been different if this didn’t happen

  44. Jake O Says:

The world would be very different if the Union didn’t win the Civil War. If the Union didn’t win USA would probably be divided into two countries. Slavery would last a couple more years longer in the South. Abraham Lincoln probably wouldn’t have been assassinated. The Union would probably have a couple more wars with the South to stop slavery and to get land. That is what I think would happen if the Confederates won the Civil War.

  45. ethan brooks Says:

Martin Luther King Jr. made a major impact on the U.S. If he hadn’t done what he did history would be changed greatly. Like there would be some much more rasism in the U.S. Also all of the great African Americans in history wouldn’t be requgnised as much like Michle Jordan. Also people would still be very mean to the people. They would make them sit in a certain area in restraunts and use a certain pool. So that is what would happen if Martin Luther King Jr. hadn’t done what he did.

  46. Dominic B. Says:

What if the Confederacy won the Civil War? If the Confederacy had one the war than I think that slavery would’ve gone on for much longer or maybe would still be around. I think that African Americans wouldn’t have the rights that they have today. Also if the Confederacy had won than the U.S would still be split up. So if the Confederacy had won, I think that the U.S wouldn’t be the same and that segregation, racism, or even slavery would still be going on. So there a lot of questions to ask and there a lot of outcomes, but what if the Confederacy won?

  47. Allie C. Says:

The major event in history that I would pick would be the Civil War. If the North would’ve lost the Civil War there might be some problems. We still might have slavery, for all we know we could have segregation instead of slavery. We could’ve also had both. We might still be a seperated country though with the north side and the south side. But who knows we could have had another war and everything would be the same, well except for in Social Studies we might have to learn about another war. That is what I think would have happened if the North would’ve lost the Civil War.

  48. Lauren G Says:

One historical event that would have made life different is the bombing of the twin towers on September 11th. If that had not happened, we wouldn’t be over in Iraq and people would not be dying everyday. Also, all the people in the twin towers wouldn’t have lost their lives and they would be still be able to go home to their families. More recently, it might have possibly affected our presidential nominees and what they promise to do. If the bombing didn’t happpen, then the candidates would focus on something other than taking the troops out of Iraq.

  49. Kevin V Says:

I would pick WWII because this was a major war in U.S. History. If we had lost the war we would probably be speaking German right now, and our country as we know it would be different. We would not have the freedoms we have today, freedom of speech, assembly, and religion. Imagine what it would be like not being able to have these freedoms? We would not have a democracy, but we would have a dictator, Adolf Hitler. If we spoke out about the government we could be thrown in jail or possibly even killed. We wouldnt be able to vote for a president or any other government offices. We are very lucky to have won WWII.

  50. Tyler S. Says:

The Civil War was a major event in our history. If the confederates had won we would have slaves and African Americans Would still have no rights. We might have had two different governments and the country might have been divided into to different countries. Since the south has a lot of farms the southern part of the country might not have as much technology as the north. Our country would have been very different if the confederates won the civil war.

  51. heidi h. Says:

I think that the world would be very different than it is today if there were no civil war. American would be part of Britain. We would all be ruled under Queen Elizabeth. The cars would drive on the left side of the rode and we would speak differently. If wee hadn’t fought for our indepdence than we would be part of Great Britain. I’m glad we did because i like being a free country.

  52. Darian D Says:

In history, we have had many things happen to the United States where we have different wars. But what if we didn’t win any of those wars? In history, Sky Harbor was bombed which started World War II. What if we weren’t bombed? It would have changed a lot. If it wasn’t bombed, we might have started the war much later or haven’t started at all and many more lives would have been lost. Life in the United States might have been very different if Sky Harbor was bombed.

  53. Kevin V Says:

I haven’t experienced going to a new school. I have been at Pope John XXIII since I was a kindergartener. I have switched basketball teams before though. In seventh grade I went from playing regular school basketball to ABL. ABL is Arizona’s most competitive basketball league. I remember that it was a very big change from playing school basketball to ABL, I was scared because there were kids 2-3 years older than us and some of them were 6 ft. tall. Even thought we had a losing season it was still a great experience playing in ABL and I’d love to do it again.

  54. scout a Says:

If I had to pick one major event in history I would chose the Civil War. If the Union had lost the Civil War then the nation would still be divided. We might even still have slavery and the African Americans would still be treated unfairly. President Lincoln probably wouldn’t have been assainated and he may have had different laws than Andrew Johnson.

  55. Rylan D Says:

I would pick WWII. If Hitler had won the war, then he would have control of most of the world. Our power would fall greatly, and the wealthy would become poor. Our military force would have been turned corrupt, used whenever more power could be obtained. Our political figures would favorite their own religion and eradicate Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and so on. Anyone who was different would be persecuted. Crime would rise, and rebellions would erupt everywhere. We wouldn’t be able to sleep safely because of the fear of some racist dictator ordering every Christian to be thrown in prison or executed. Schools would be under funded and business’ would declare bankruptcy.

  56. Justice Ramos Says:

A lot of things would be different today if history weren’t the same. If we never won World War II, China and us would never find peace. We would still be at war and spies would be all over the country. We would never trust each other. If Americans just gave up, we would always look back and regret that we gave up. Hitler would be so powerful and probably there wouldn’t be any more Jews today. The whole world would be different to because certain people would be running our lives right now. But something could happen in the future and change the world forever.

  57. Madison H. Says:

One major event that would have changed the world if it had ended differently would be World War II. If Germany and Japan had won the war all or most Jews and other people might be dead. If we didn’t stop Adolf Hitler we would be living in a very different society. If we were being run by a dictator we wouldn’t have any rights at all. We wouldn’t be able to have freedom of speech, and a lot of people wouldn’t be able to practice their religion. If we did try to speak freely or people tried to practice their own religion they would be thrown in jail or killed. That is what I think would’ve happened if we didn’t win World War II.

  58. Jackie F. Says:

The Civil War is an event in history that greatly affected our country. If the Confederates had won the Civil War instead of the Union, life in the United States would be very different. For example, we would still have slavery and we would be very racial against African Americans. Also, the United States could be split up into more than one nation, or country. We would have very different laws in our government. It is possible that our economy could be less advanced and be more like the old Southern economy. The Civil War changed our country very much.

  59. Maddie S. Says:

What if Martin Luther King Jr. had never been born? Our society would be very different today. I believe that we probably would not still be segregated, but our attitude towards black people might be very different. MLK was very influential in getting rights for black people. He led so many marches and protests, and sent so many people his message about civil rights. The United States was on the right track to becoming integrated, but without was this man did for our country; we might still be prejudiced today.

  60. Christopher G Says:

The Civil war was a major event in U.S. history. If the Union would have lost the war the South would have control over the nation and we would still be living with slaves. African Americans would not have the rights that they have today and racism would be spread across the nation. The world would defintly be different if the Union would have lost the Civil War.

  61. Kait E. Says:

I could think of many major events in history that could change the world if they ended up differently. However, the event I chose was the Civil War. This war happened within our country between the North and the South. As we all know the North won but it would be a totally different story if the South won. Slavery might still be around, we may have a different money currency, and our government may run differently than how it does now. African Americans would still have no say in what they do and they would be split up from their family and friends. If the North hadn’t won the Civil War our lives today might have been a whole lot different.

  62. Nat B. Says:

Our life today would not be what it is if the United States hadn’t won World War II. If the Germans or even the Japanese had ended up winning we wouldn’t have the freedoms that we have today. We probably wouldn’t be called Americans, nor would we have the ability to choose the leaders of our nation. If anyone else had won the war there would probably be many people being persecuted for their faith or ethnicity throughout Europe, and even North America. Things that we take for granted today could not even existed if one small thing in history had been altered.

  63. Megan S Says:

A major war in history was the Civil war and it was very controversial war. I think the world would be different if the south had won the Civil war and the union lost. The world would be different because African Americans would be slaves. White southerners would have controlled politics, and we would be framing everywhere. Also America would be divide and segregation would be very high I we did not have slavery. This is what I think would have happened if the South had Won the Civil war.

  64. Brennan T Says:

If we didnt win the civil war many things could be very different today. The United States would possibly still be divided, and there might even still be slavery today. Since the south was more agricultural than industrial we would maybe still have slaves running plantations.

  65. Bentley B. Says:

One historical event that would change the world if it had ended differently would be The Civil War. If the Civil War had ended differently, there would probably still be slavery. Also many of the leaders, of the Union, would probably have been arrested. Lastly the economy would change from an industrial economy to an agrarian economy. That’s what I believe would happen if the Civil War had ended differently

  66. Alexia O Says:

I agree with Sarah F. on the posible outcome of the Civil War. I too, think that there would still be slavery and widespread segregation throughout the United States today. This is what I think would happen if the Union didn’t win the Civil War.

  67. Mackenzie E. Says:

I agree with Sydney C. because our world would be very different if we didn’t win the Civil War. Racisim would be a lot higher and there would be a lot less people living in the south because many people in the south are immagrants. So it was a very good thing that, that war turned out the way it did.

  68. Elias Newcomb Says:

I completely agree with Anthony Kline regarding the tragic events of 911. One very important event that would not have taken place is the war in Iraq. Our government went to war because it was believed that Iraq had weapons of mass distruction and would attack the U.S. the way Afghanistan did. If the attack on the World Trade Centers had never happened, we would not have gone to war with Iraq.

  69. Anthony K. Says:

I agree with you, Rylan, 100%. If Hilter won the war, the world be very different. I agree that probably everyone would be treated differently and also unfairly. I also agree with you on the military part. Your world would be a continues war if Hilter won the war probably.

  70. Nick M Says:

I don’t agree with Dillion C. because I don’t believe we would still be fighting. Obviously by this time the war would have ended by now. Even if the war was still going on they probably would not have stopped for the olympics because there most likely would not be an olympics. But I do agree with him in the fact that if we didn’t A-bomb that the war would be prolonged for a few more years.

  71. Jennie D. Says:

I agree with you Abby when you said that if the North had lost the war, there would be slavery going on right now. And Barack Obama would definitely not be running to be president. African Americans wouldn’t have any rights except for properties and to vote. Our family and friends would all be slave-owners. That is why I agree with Abby.

  72. Jacqueline M 8b Says:

Responding to Kate K’s answer: I agree with you and put a similar answer. What if the Union lost? Just think about it. Everything that has happened since the Civil War would have happened differently. Maybe Abe Lincoln wouldn’t have been shot. Maybe our country wouldn’t be called the United States. I put that slavery would probably still exist. Also, African Americans would have little or no freedoms. The world would be completely different if the Union hadn’t won the Civil War.

  73. Jack D Says:

Juliana C, I agree with you that if the Union lost the Civil War, slavery would still go on at least for a year or so longer. I disagree, though, that slavery would still go on today. I think, since Lincoln probably would’t have gotten assassinated, he would have been able to get another army sometime later and beat the Confederacy. There probably would have been more slaves escaping to the Union so they could help make the Union Army again.

  74. Elizabeth G. 8A Says:

The world would have been different if the civil war had ended differently because most likely there would still be a separate country called the Confederate States of America. Also, slavery might even still exist if it wasn’t for the civil war. The dream of equality among all races and ethnicities might seem impossible today if the Union would have lost. Freedom and equality of African Americans, I believe, inspired women to fight for there rights. If the civil war had been a Union loss, it would have been a huge loss for African Americans as well, meaning they would not have received their freedom and it is a possibility that women may never have been inspired to demand their rights as well.

  75. Dominic B Says:

What if the Confederacy won the Civil War? If the Confederacy had one the war than I think that slavery would’ve gone on for much longer or maybe would still be around. I think that African Americans wouldn’t have the rights that they have today. Also if the Confederacy had won than the U.S would still be split up. So if the Confederacy had won, I think that the U.S wouldn’t be the same and that segregation, racism, or even slavery would still be going on. So there a lot of questions to ask and there a lot of outcomes, but what if the Confederacy won?

  76. scout a Says:

I agree with Nate H. Our country would be really different if the Union had lost the war. We probably wouldn’t be called the United States. I disagree though with the slavery part. I believe slavery would not exist, but more racism. I also disagree with you when you said it would be agricultural and less industry. I think that we would still were we are now. I agree now that the country would be very different if the Confederates won the war.

  77. I fully agree with Brennan. Your right black people could be working in plantations still. Who knows how many people could suffer if we had lost the civil war. This country would be very different if we had lost the civil war. That is why I would agree with Brennan

  78. Matthew G 8B Says:

Responding to Rylan D: I agree with you Rylan about everything you have said. I mostly agree with the fact that our political figures would favorite their own religion and that other religions would become eradicated. I also agree with the fact that rebellions would rise and that our military forces would become corrupt. I also agree that their would be bankrupcy and that the military would only be used when their is more power to be gained. That is why I agree with everything that Rylan has said.

  79. Bentley B. Says:

I agree with Anthony O. because if Hitler and the Nazi had won World War II many, if not all of the Jews would have been killed by Hilter Also many other Non-Arien races could have been killed as well. I also agree with Anthony O. with his point that there have been many Jewish writers, directors and inventors and that if we didn’t have those peolpe many movies, novels, and invention wouldn’t have been created. That is why I agree with Anthony O.

  80. AndrewM Says:

I agree with Jake O. If the Union lost the Civil War our country would be split into 2 seperate halves. Although slavery wouldn’t exist anymore it probably lasted for a couple more years until the south became more independent on them selves. And Abe Lincoln might still be alive today.

  81. Natalie D Says:

I agree with Sydney C. We probebly still would be divided and slavery would probebly would have occured a little while longer, Racism most likely would be a lot higher than it is now.

  82. Christian F Says:

I agree with Anthony K. when he says that the world would be very different if 911 did not happen. The world would be very different because we would not be in a war right now. Airports would have less security and they would serve food on the plane. Gas prices would also be a lot lower. There would also be less death in the world if 911 did not happen because 5 to 6 Americans are dying each day in Iraq and 15 to 20 Iraqis are dying each day. That is why I agree with Anthony K. when he says that the world would be very different if 911 did not happen.

  83. EthanH Says:

I disagree with Dylan Temple. I think that the world would be much different if we lost the civil war. I think that, even if the world would go back to how it is now, we would be set back a couple years. Things that happened in the fifties could be happening in the 90s. That would make us in the seventies, and we would all be hippies and the war in veitnam would be going on. that would make apple not exist yet, too! i would not like living in the past, yet still being in the present.

  84. dillon c Says:

I agree with Anthony. If 9-11 never happened. If 911 never happened or it turned out differently like the terrorists missed the Twin Towers, the world would be very different. What if the terrorists missed and actually hit the pentagon? If they did hit the pentagon, our country would be in a lot of hate.

  85. Kevin V Says:

I agree with Scout, if the Union had not won the war the country would probably still be divided. We probably might even still have slavery. Shes right about that African-Americans not being treated fairly and there would be a lot more racism.

  86. Jacob H. Says:

I agree with Dillon C. If the war had been lost many things could have happened.

  87. Jordan S. Says:

I agree with Anthony K. It would be extremely different if 911 hadn’t happened. But I think he forgot to include that there would be no war going on right now. He said that there would be no terrorism, but I think that there still would be. The world would be a much better place if 911 hadn’t happened.

  88. Juliana C Says:

I agree with Allison C about the alternate outcome of World War II. What is Germany and Japan had won? The whole Jewish religion would be completely gone and we wouldn’t have many of the freedoms we take for granted today. I don’t have blonde hair or blue eyes, so I might have been killed or forced to become a slave. Allison was right when she says this world would be a horrible place if Hitler and his army had won the war.

  89. nate h Says:

I agree with Jake. If the Union had lost the Civil War the country we live in today would probably be split into two countries. I also agree with him on that slavery would still go on for a couple years, but I think it would eventually end.

  90. Lauren G Says:

I agree with Julie L when she says our country would be different if the Union had lost the Civil War. We probably wouldn’t have slavery anymore, but there would be lots of racism and segregation. However, I disagree with the statement that we would be a more agricultural society. I think that as things evolved and became more advanced, we probably would have gone with the flow and started to use more machinery and equipment. We’d be living in an entirely different world if the Confederacy had won the Civil War.

  91. michael myers Says:

i agree with tyler snell with the events that occured in the civil war.. i agree with him because if the union lost the war there would still be slavery today

  92. ali s Says:

I believe that the world would be a lot different if the union had not won the war. Racism and slavery would be worse. Until President Abraham Lincoln is known today as a hero for passing the thirteenth amendment and ending slavery in the United States. If that hadn’t happened the world would be different, thats why i agree with Sydney C, and Julianna C.

  93. BEN S. Says:

This is an vent that i think would have a great impact on the history of our world if it had turned out differently. The world we know today would be very different if the Axis powers had won WWII. If the D-Day missions had been failures, most of the world we know would be under the control of Hitler and his allies. That is an event that would have greatly changed the world we live in if it had turned out differently.

  94. Kait E. Says:

I agree with Madison Stevens when she said that our world would have been very different if Martin Luther King Jr. was never born. Not only what what he said influenced people, but what he did about segregation changed the world. If he never was born we could still have a lot of segregation today and be living in a different way. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the first people to ever fully do something about segregation. It is hard to amagine if he never even lived. What he did changed how we thought of African Americans or anyone and showed they were people just like us.

  95. Jack P Says:

Anthony Ortega, i agree with you all the way because if the Jews would have been killed, many things would not have been invented and many movies would not have been been produced. Great point, Anthony

  96. TOMR Says:

I am responding to Andrew M. I disagree with you, how would all of Europe be considered Germany if Italy was on the Germans side. What about Sweden, they were neutral so the Germans didn’t invade them. Also, why would we, as Christians, not be able to practice our religion because Hitler himself was a Christian. Also why would the Germans want to take over the whole world, they have very little military power to take over the whole world with only 11 million troops, while the Allies had over 60 million troops.

  97. Jillian L Says:

Rachel W: I totally agree with you Rachel. If the 13th-15th Ammendments had not been made, many African Americans would still be fighting for their rights. Our lives would probably be filled with deep sadness and chaos. I would not want to live in this country if there were still slaves.

  98. BEN S. Says:

Respose to MAddie S.: I somewhat disagree with Maddie S.’s statement about civil rights not changing if MLK had not have been born and here is why. The first and main reason is because even if MLK had not have been born there would have beenother African American civil rights protesters. That is why i disagree with Maddie.

  99. Nick D 8B Says:

I agree with Bentley B because if the north didn’t win the civil war slavery could still be going on and we still might be fighting this war.

  100. grace k 8A Says:

If the british had won, we would have a different culture, and the United States would not exsist. If the North had lost the war, slavery would be occuring right now. If these events didn’t happen, our world as we know today would be much different.

  101. grace k 8A Says:

  102. ethan brooks Says:

I agree with Rylan D. because he tells the truth. He told us exactly what would happen if Hitler won WW11. I believe that is exactly what would happen if Hitler won. Also I think that he was right about are wealth would drop. Then he also said how religans would be banned. And how christans and muslams would be killed because of their religan. That is why I agree with Rylan.

  103. Grace K Says:

I agree with Sydney Carter. She stated “The world would be very different if we had not won the Civil War. We would still be divided and Slavery would still be occurring for a little while longer. There would be less immigrants in the South, and racism would be a lot higher than it is now.” I think that we would be divided still as she said, and i agree with everything else she stated in her answer.
