Creighton makes a tough decision when he helps break his uncle out of jail. Would you have made the same choice? What other options did Creighton have and what did he risk in making those decisions?

Creighton makes a tough decision when he helps break his uncle out of jail. Would you have made the same choice? What other options did Creighton have and what did he risk in making those decisions?
September 17, 2008 at 5:40 pm
I would have definentley saved my uncle from jail. Some other options that Creighton had was that he could of instead not saved his uncle and could of ditched and left them there to rot. Creighton could of risked his life trying to free his uncle. If the Americans found out that Creighton was helping out his uncle they could of killed him.
September 22, 2008 at 5:27 pm
I would have helped break my uncle out of jail. Some other options he had was to not saved his uncle and just have tried to life like any other American and forget all about the past. He could have also just given his uncle somethings to help him break out of jail if Creighton didn’t want to risk his life. If the Americans found out that he was helping free his uncle from jail the Americans would hang him.
September 22, 2008 at 7:33 pm
I would not save my uncle from jail because he is in this book a terrible person. He killed Benjamin Franklin and had no second thoughts about it. Creighton’s uncle deserves to stay in jail because of his terrible deeds. Creighton did not have many other options though. If he did nit break hi uncle out of jail, he would never return home. He is making friendships in America and is starting to question where his loyalties belong.
September 22, 2008 at 8:02 pm
I would have saved my uncle from jail if I was Creighton. I would have done this, because it was my uncle. He loves you, and he probably would have do the same thing. Creighton could have not knocked the guard out, and just left his uncle there. He didn’t have to do that. He risked his life for him. That is what I think of Creighton saving his uncle.
September 22, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I agree with Anthony O, because that Creighton could have left his uncle in jail to rot. After all his uncle did hit him on the head really hard. He could have killed him. What if Creighton did leave him to rot, or what if he even went with his uncle?
September 23, 2008 at 3:56 pm
I would have demanded that my uncle promise to leave with me, and then use that answer as if I let him out or not. Chreighton could either set his uncle free, keep him there, or he didn’t even have to go to see his uncle and waited till he couldn’t find it in him to go.
September 23, 2008 at 4:34 pm
I would have rescued my uncle from jail. The other options Creighton had was to leave his uncle there to die. He could have risked his life because he could have been caught by the Americans. Then they would both be killed.
September 23, 2008 at 5:05 pm
If I were Creighton, I would not have broken my Uncle out of jail. I would have chosen against this decision because Colonel Gower had proven himself untrustworthy, crafty, and self-centered before, and Creighton should probably have known better than to break him out of jail. The other choices that Creighton had would have been to leave his Uncle there and stay in New Orleans as well, or he could have simply left off spying for his Uncle and returned to England by himself. In making the decisions that he did, Creighton risked his life, his honor, his friends, and his trustworthiness. It is very sad that Creighton did not gain anything from his efforts, except for a reaffirmation that his Uncle was not to be trusted.
September 23, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Creighton made may hard decisions in Year of the Hangman. One of then was to break his uncle out of jail. I would have helped my uncle just like Creighton did. But, if I would have known that my uncle was going to leave me in New Orleans, I would not have helped him escape. Another hard decision was when Creighton agreed to spy for his uncle. Though Creighton regrets this choice now, his loyalties were with England, so of course he spied for his uncle. Creighton regrets these choices now, but when he made them his loyalties were in a completely different place.
September 23, 2008 at 8:00 pm
If I knew that my uncle was as bad as he was, I would not save him from jail. Creighton did not know what his uncle was going to do, and if I was in the same situation as him I would have probably let him out too. He could have not rescued him from jail and faced disrespect from his mom and other relatives if he gets back to England. He could have let them go, but then sneak off with them and try to stop them from telling the American secrets that he had earlier relayed to them. In conclusion, Creighton had to make a very hard decision with many different outcomes that could have happened.
September 23, 2008 at 8:36 pm
If I were in that position, I would save my uncle from jail. Creighton could have left them there to be executed, but he was loyal, he wasn’t a coward. He saved them form their fate by risking his life for them. He had to fight two guards to save them, which took a lot of courage. Creighton was very brave and he was rewarded by getting hit over the head and left to get captured instead of them taking him with them.
September 23, 2008 at 8:39 pm
No, I would not have saved my uncle. First of all, he deserved to be in jail. Next, he stabbed you in the back why should you have to save him. Finally it would be a failed attempt because you almost certainly could not find someone to help you break in and even then it would be difficult to break in. Creighton could save his uncle in hopes that his uncle would take him back to England. I don’t think Creighton will save his uncle.
September 23, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Creighton did make a tough decision when he helped his uncle break out of jail. If I were him, I probably would have done the same thing. Another option that Creighton had was that he could just leave his uncle and not rescue him from jail. Creighton could risk losing his uncle and becoming a permanent worker in Franklin’s printing shop. Creighton could have made a different decision, but he decided to help his uncle escape from jail.
September 23, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Creighton made a decision that I don’t think I would have made. If my uncle was so mean to me like Creighton’s uncle was to him I would not risk being captured by the Americans and getting thrown in prison myself or being executed for treason. Creighton was having a good life without his uncle and he had friends that were better to him then his friends in England. He could have started over in the new country so he would be free of all his debts and his bad habits. I would not have saved my uncle from jail if I was in the same position as Creighton.
September 23, 2008 at 9:06 pm
If I were in Creighton’s situation, I would have freed my uncle from prison.Creighton didn’t have to free his uncle though. Creighton had options in choosing to free his uncle. He could of left his uncle stay in prison or he could of freed his uncle. When he freed his uncle, he ran the risk of some Americans finding out that he was behind the freeing of British prisoners, and he would have had to face major consequences.
September 23, 2008 at 9:06 pm
If I was in Creighton’s position I wouldn’t have freed my uncle. Colonel Gower was a very cruel man, and he had done nothing to give Creighton a reason to free him. Creighton’s decision was hard because freeing Lieutenant Hale also meant he was freeing Colonel Gower, and Creighton wanted to free Hale. Since Creighton was becoming friends with the Americans and he knew he could trust them I think he shouldn’t have freed his uncle. I certainly would not have if I was in his position.
September 23, 2008 at 9:16 pm
If I were Creighton, I would have saved my uncle from jail. I would have done this because if I didn’t, I would likely have to wait till he got out. Other options would be to go back to England by himslef. This would be more risky because England and America are pretty far away. He could risk getting caught. If this happened, he would be punish severily.
September 23, 2008 at 9:24 pm
If i were in Creighton’s situation i would certaily have broken my uncle out of jail. However if my uncle was selfish and corrupt like Creighton’s uncle was, i defineltly would have thought twice about breaking him out. Some other options Creighton could consider would be to stay with Dr.Franklin, however Creighton would risk being considered a traitor by his uncle. That is another option Creighton could have considered and what the risk would be.
September 23, 2008 at 9:36 pm
I think I would have broken my uncle out of jail. Creighton, like I would have thought, thought that his uncle would take him with him. I know I would want to go back to my home if I was that far away from it for that long. Plus, my uncle is my uncle and I would have felt I should defend my family. After I did it though, I would realize what a big mistake it was.
September 23, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Creighton did make a tough decision when he broke his uncle out of the jail. If I were him though, I would not have broken him out of jail. His uncle showed him that he wasn’t trustworthy. After this, I would not break him out of jail. Creighton had the option to leave his Uncle there. By saving his uncle, he risked his own life.
September 23, 2008 at 9:42 pm
If I were in Creighton’s shoes, I would not have broken my uncle out of jail. One reason would be because his uncle does not respect Creighton in any way, shape, or form. To his uncle, Creighton is just another person he has meant and has no reason to treat him in any special way. Creighton owes nothing to his uncle so why should he rescue him. Creighton’s uncle has done nothing for him. Other choices he had were to just stay at Dr. Franklin’s, or to not spy anymore for his uncle, or go back to England somehow. He is risking his honor, loyalty, and his life. Whatever he is doing, he always seems to be risking his life somehow.
September 23, 2008 at 11:27 pm
If I were Creighton, I would have saved mu uncle from jail. In my opinon, family and god come before everything. Creighton could have risked his life, and family and friends in the making of his decission to save his uncle. The Americans probably would have killed him if the news was ever brought about that he saved his uncle. Creighton lost alot of loyalty and trustworthiness in this action.
September 24, 2008 at 12:36 am
My answer would be yes! Who wouldn’t want to save someone that is blood related to you? I mean yes you have your ups and downs, but does that really mean that you are going to just let your uncle sit in jail for the rest of his life. I mean sure, he did do something that Creighton will never forget, but he’s still family and he should bail him out of jail. The other opinion that Creighton could have chose to bail his uncle, if the Americans saw they would have probably just killed him. But Creighton also had to choice, to just leave and go back home and risk his family, friends, and his own life, for not having trust. Again, he could have the courage to go in and save his uncle and if something were to happen, then he would be risking his own life for his uncle, so there is pretty much a hard decision to make, but him having the courage, I think that he will make a great decision.
September 24, 2008 at 12:54 am
Anthony O, i agree with you that you would take your uncle from jail. I also think that if the Americans found out they would have him killed, I agree with you on that area.
September 24, 2008 at 9:12 am
Yes, I would have saved my uncle from jail. The only other option Creighton had was to not save his uncle from jail. The risk Creighton took was great in making his decision. If he did attempt to free his uncle he faced the risk of getting caught. If he did not he faced the risk of never going back to England.
September 24, 2008 at 2:32 pm
I would have probably saved my uncle from jail. However if he was a bad person who didn’t deserve to get out I woudn’t break him out. If breaking him out endangered my life in any bit I wouldn’t help him. Also if I could get into major trouble I would’t break him out. It would all depend on the situation.
September 24, 2008 at 2:34 pm
I would have made the same choice. I would have done this because its my Uncle i am saving and he would be my only family in the U.S. Another reason for doing this is that once I am done with the job he wants me to do he can allow me to go back to england to see my family. Other choices that Creighton had was to not let his Uncle escape but if did this he probably would have a harder time geting back to England. I think Creighton made the right desicion because if i were him I would like to go home to England.
September 24, 2008 at 2:41 pm
I would not have broken my Uncle out of jail. I would not have done so becasuse I could’ve risked my life. THe other options he could’ve had were just not to save his Uncle. The reason why was because he was being mean to Creighton in the first place. That is why I would not have saved my Uncle.
September 24, 2008 at 3:30 pm
If I were Creighton, I probably would have not broken my uncle out of jail. His uncle is not a nice person, and his intentions were not trustworthy. Creighton already knew he was not to be trusted, so I would not have freed him, knowing he probably wouldn’t even take me with him. His other options are to free him and learn that he still had to stay, find a way to leave by himself back to England, stay in New Orleans and keep on spying for Colonel Gower, or just stay there and work for Doctor Franklin and quit being a spy.
September 24, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Creighton made a very risky decision in bailing his uncle out of jail. Yes, i would have done the same thing as he did because i am close to my uncle and i wouldn’t just let him sit there and get tortured. But Creighton could have just left his uncle there to die, but he didn’t. he took a huge risk and offered his life for his uncle and all he got in return was a beating across his head.
September 24, 2008 at 4:24 pm
If I was Creighton, I wouldn’t have broken my Uncle out of jail because of the fact that he had treated Creighton not very well, and his Uncle had become known as un-trustworthy and self-centered. The other options that Creighton had and had thought of was to stay in New Orleans and not break his Uncle out of jail, or to go back to England by himself, without his Uncle. Creighton shouldn’t have broken his Uncle out of jail, and he lost some important qualities such as honor and his trust with people, and most of all, his friends, by doing a deed to someone who hadn’t deserved it.
September 24, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Creighton made a very tough decision when he decided to get his uncle out of jail. If I were in the same situation as Creighton, I would have broken my uncle out of jail. Even though his uncle had treated him badly, his uncle was still his family. With the little family Creighton had left, I agree with his decision to rescue his uncle. The other options Creighton had where to leave his uncle and Hale in the jail. If Creighton had decided to not break out his uncle, there would be many risks. One risk would be that Creighton would probably be stuck in America forever and never get back home. Also, people in America would probably find out eventually that he was not a slave, but a British boy who was sent to America out of spite. They could have done many horrible things to him. I believe Creighton made a great decision.
September 24, 2008 at 4:43 pm
I would not have broken my Uncle out of prison if I was Creighton. I would not have done this because Creighton was risking a lot for an untrustworthy and selfish man. He risked a lot like being caught and his life. One other option Creighton could have chosen was going back to England by himself. I think Creighton made a poor choice but I am glad nothing too serious happened to him.
September 24, 2008 at 4:46 pm
I would have made the same choice to save my uncle. I would have done that if I thought I would be able to follow anlong and that they would do nothing more to this town or didtroy the town. Some other options that Creighton had was that he could have not saved his uncle and could have left them there to rot, or face the conquensence. Creighton could have risked his life trying to free his uncle. If the Americans found out that Creighton was helping out his uncle they would kill al of them and it would not matter to America.
September 24, 2008 at 4:48 pm
If I was in Creighton’s position I wouldn’t have broken my uncle out of jail. I think that if he really thought about it he could probably predict that what his uncle did was going to happen. Other options Creighton had were that he could have gone to England by himself, and not have broken his uncle and lieutenant out. The risks he took were pretty big, like being caught by Sophie or Dr. Frankin or be caught during the break out.
September 24, 2008 at 4:52 pm
I most definently would have broken my uncle out of jail. I make risks all the time for my loved ones. Some other opitions that Creighton Brown had, instead of saving his uncle, would have been to just leave him there and stay in New Orleans, or go back to England. Creighton would have risked his life trying to free hid uncle from jail. He also would has risked hid trust. I would try to break my uncle out of jail like Creighton.
September 24, 2008 at 5:07 pm
If I were in Creighton’s situation, I would have freed Colonel Gower. However, I would have not tried to go with them because Gower is not very trustworthy. Some of Creighton’s other options were to leave Gower and Hale in the jail and continue to live in New Orleans. However, if he had done this, Gower might have said something to the guards that Creighton was their accomplice. This could have gotten Creighton thrown in jail and maybe even killed.
September 24, 2008 at 5:10 pm
The decision Creighton made was definitely a hard one to make. But I would have definitely saved my Uncle. I would have done this because I would have thought that my uncle would take me back to England. Creightons others options were to just stay with Benjamin Franklin or go off and live by himself. He risked his life trying to save his uncle.
September 24, 2008 at 5:14 pm
I agree with Sarah F. I think that Creighton should have known better than to break him out of jail. Also that he did risk his life, friends, and his trust from all the Patriots. Also I do agree that he wasted his efforts. I also completely agree that Creighton’s uncle cannot be trusted anymore.
September 24, 2008 at 5:19 pm
I disagree with Sarah. Creighton should have tried to break his uncle free. At this point in the book Creighton was willing to do just about everything he could do to get home. If you were in his situation would you have at least tried to get home. There was not many options that he had at the time.
September 24, 2008 at 5:26 pm
If I were to be in creighton’s situation, I would first demand that my uncle promise to me that he’ll take me home with him, and only then will I let him out. Creighton had a few ontions. He could have either rescued them, take them conditionally, or just leave them there to grow bad and die.
September 24, 2008 at 5:38 pm
If I were Creighton I would’ve helped my uncle break out of jail. He wanted to go back to England so that’s one reason I would’ve helped him. He thought his uncle was going to send him back to England or at least bring him to an area ruled by the English. He risked his life to save his uncle and he didn’t get what he wanted. That’s why I would’ve helped my uncle break out of jail if I were Creighton.
September 24, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Here is what I would do if I was Creighton in this position. If I was Creighotn I would have broken my uncle out of jail thinking that I could go back to England with him. I would not have broken him out if I had known that he would hit me with his pistol and leave me. If Creighton hadn’t broken his uncle out of jail he would risk having to stay in America. That is what I would have done if I was Creighton.
September 24, 2008 at 5:47 pm
If i were Creighton i would’ve set my uncle free just because he is my uncle. Other options that Creighton had were to not set them free and just let them rot in their cell. If he didn’t let them go then they wouldn’t have burned the print shop down. That is why Creighton freed his uncle.
September 24, 2008 at 6:01 pm
I definitely would have broken my uncle out of jail. I would do it because he’s my uncle and I’m suppossed to love him, even if he doesn’t love me. The other options that Creighton had were to not do anything or to just tell them information and not help them escape. He risked a lot in these decisions because if he hadn’t done anything, then his uncle would have gotten hurt by the Americans. If he had just told them information, then his uncle would get mad at him and he would have a worse chance of returning to England. Creighton was in a tough spot.
September 24, 2008 at 6:29 pm
If I was in Creghitons place, I would not have broken my uncle out of jail. I wouldn’t do this because in the past, his uncle has been a liar and a cheater to Creighton and others. Creighton should have thought of his actions and the things that would maybe result to these actions before he broke his uncle out of jail. If the Americans would of found ou about that he broke his uncle out of jail, he might have been killed. The other options Creighton had was that he should just left his uncle behind because he did know that he has been a liar and a cheater in the past and so that might mean that he wouldn’t let him come back to England with him. Which is exactly what did happen. Creighton risked many things he could have lost in New Orleans. His knew friends that, so far, have treated him so very well. His job and his home with Dr. Franklin and Sophie.
September 24, 2008 at 6:34 pm
I can honestly say that I probably would have gone against the plan and not have tried to retrieve my uncle from jail. He had proven himself to be a liar, cheater, and much more horrible characteristics that I just wouldn’t want to be a part of anymore. I also wouldn’t have taken the risk of myself being put in jail just trying to save my uncle. That is why I definitely would not try and save my uncle if I were put into this position with an uncle like Colonel Gower.
September 24, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Creighton had made a tough decision in breaking his uncle out of jail. I probably would not have made the same choice in doing that. For one, I would have a pretty good chance at getting caught in the act and many things could turn out wrong. Another thing would be on how to work on getting them out and if we would be able to work together. Creighton would have been smarter as to stay in New Orleans and spy for his uncle and try to find out as much information as he can to go against the Americans. However, Creighton did not do this and breaking them out was a waste of time because his uncle wouldn’t take Creighton with him back to England which was the whole point on helping them out of jail. If it were me, I wouldn’t have done it.
September 24, 2008 at 7:36 pm
No, I would not make the same choice Creighton did when it came time to break his uncle out of jail. Another option Creighton had would be to go to the British colonies and do something about them being in jail himself or he could have ignored his uncle and just help out Benjamin Franklin instead. He risked a lot helping his uncle, he could have been killed, or been caught by the guards and be hung.
September 24, 2008 at 7:47 pm
If I were Creighton I would have chosen to help my uncle get out of jail because he is my family. At this point all that Creighton has is his uncle. Creighton could have left his uncle in jail but he risked being caught by the yankees and taken prisoner.
September 24, 2008 at 7:48 pm
No, I wouldn’t have broken my uncle out of jail. If I had the choice I wouldn’t have done it and risked blowing my disguise as a servant. If I were Creighton instead I would have just ignored my uncle and just left him there. But that is only because his uncled seemed mean. All in all I would have not taken the risk.
September 24, 2008 at 8:20 pm
I would help break my uncle out of jail. He is the only family I have. I would trust him to help me get back to England. If I were not making a living in America I would get my uncle out of jail as soon as possible so I could go home. I could have tried to go home on my own but it would be much easier with the help of my uncle.
September 24, 2008 at 8:23 pm
I would have not saved my uncle from jail. I had a life in America and i would not want to end it with saving my uncle. There is also the possibility of being hung for being a traitor to the Americans. Creighton’s uncle was mean to Creighton anyway so I would have let him stay in prison for a little longer. Liutenant Howe was my friend though so I would want to help him out which would mean my uncle would go also. The risk is too high, I would have not busted my uncle out of prison.
September 24, 2008 at 8:28 pm
If I was in his position, I would let my uncle rot in jail. There are many resons I would make that choce. For starters I would leave him because he lied t me and my mother. Another reason I would leave him is because he was a giant jerk who was just using me. Also he made be his little spy. Those are some of the reasons why I would leave my uncle in jail.
September 24, 2008 at 8:28 pm
No, I wouldnt break my uncle out of jail. I wouldnt because he is a mean self-centered man. I would always have the tought that he would leave me. Some other of Creighton options wpuld be to leave because creighton could have gotten killed by guards. He could have been executed for helping them escape. That is why Creighton shouldnt have helped his uncle out of jail.
September 24, 2008 at 8:39 pm
I would help my uncle out of jail. Mainly in hopes of him getting me out of the America. I would probally wouldnt have shot him though. Creighton did not have anything go to his favor in his act of saveing his uncle, so it was almost pointless. Creighton also now has to be very carfull around town, because if one of the gaurds notices him then he could be in a lot of trouble.
September 24, 2008 at 9:06 pm
If I were Creighton, I definitely would not have broken the cruel man out of jail. Creighton could have just broken Lieutenant Hale out of jail and left Colonel Gower there to rot. He also could have not broken them out at all and left them there. In making those poor decisions he could have lost the trust of Ben and be in big trouble from the guards. These are some reasons why Creighton should not have broken them out of jail.
September 24, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Had I been in Creighton’s place, I would have not broken my uncle out of jail. Creighton’s uncle was a shrewd, arrogant man. I would have known better than to trust Creighton’s uncle, especially after he lied about Creighton’s father. Also, I would have already befriended Sophie and Franklin, and had allies in the colonies. Although it would make it more difficult to escapes the colonies, it is clear that helping Creighton’s uncle escape would be a horrible choice.
September 24, 2008 at 9:45 pm
If I was in Creighton’s position I wouldn’t have broken my uncle out of jail. I would have chosen not to because his uncle was untrustworthy and he should have known better than to break him out of jail. The other choices Creighton had was that he could’ve just left his uncle there and stayed in New Orleans with Benjamin Franklin, Peter, and Sophie. Creighton risked a lot of things by making this choice including his friends, his life, and his loyalty to his friends. That is what I would’ve done if I were in Creighton’s position and everything he risked to loose by making that choice.
September 24, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Creighton had made a very unprocessed move when he broke his uncle out of jail. If I were Creighton I would of thought of the opposite effect if he had got caught, and of course he was not able to make it back to England. Creighton risked many things, like, his reputation, his trust, and his chance of going home. Creighton thank God was only caught by Benjamin but if not he would have had a big burden on his back.
September 25, 2008 at 3:42 pm
I disagree with Sarah F. when she says, “If I were Creighton, I would not have broken my Uncle out of jail. He was proven to be untrustworthy.” Colonel Gower didn’t do anything seriously wrong until he hit Creighton with his gun. After all, everyone lies sometimes and he was only trying to protect his brother’s reputation. If I were Creighton I definitely would have helped my uncle escape from jail.
September 25, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I would not have freed my uncle from prison. After all that he has done to Creighton, I wouldn’t want to ever see him again. His uncle wouldn’t let Creighton come back with him. Even for all of his efforts all he ended up doing was almost getting caught. Tihs is why I would not have set my uncle free.
September 25, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Anthony O., I disagree with you about bailing Creighton’s uncle out of jail. I think that if I was Creighton I would not have saved him. Colonel Gower was a cruel man, and Creighton, in my opinion, had no reason to save him. It would’ve been a hard decision to make because by not saving his uncle, Creighton also would have left his friend Hale in jail. All in all, I disagree with you because I think Creighton should have left his uncle in jail.
September 26, 2008 at 7:37 pm
I greatly disagree with Sarah F. about if she were in Creighton shoes that she would not break her uncle out of jail. Even though Colonel Gower seemed untrustworthy and self-centered, he was Creighton’s only family. If Creighton had tried to escape to England all by himself, he would probably not make it that far without any guidance or help. He also doesn’t have the supplies or maps to get him back to his home. Even though Creighton risked his life and other things, I believe he made the right decision. I predict that Colonel Gower will come around and repay Creighton. One thing I do agree with Sarah is that it is very sad and disappointing that Creighton did not really gain anything from his heroic and brave act. I both disagree and agree with Sarah F.
September 28, 2008 at 3:52 pm
. Creighton made a very tough decision when he broke his uncle out of jail. If I were Creighton, I would have helped my uncle out of jail. He’s part of the family and I’d probably feel guilty for leaving him there to die. Another reason why I’d help him escape is because I’d think that I would go with him back to England. (Like Creighton thought) If I had known that Colonel Gower was partly responsible for my father’s death and that he lied, I would have left him there and returned to England myself. Creighton has made many dangerous decisions that have risked his life and others’ lives.
September 28, 2008 at 6:02 pm
When Creighton broke his Uncle out of jail he had to make a tough choice. He could either allow his uncle to be mad at him and he might never get back to England, or he could stay loyal to Franklin and all of the other people who he has befriended in New Orleans. I probably would have made the same decision that Creighton, because I would have thought that my uncle would take me with him, and I might be able to get back to my home in England. If Creighton had left his uncle in jail, Creighton might have been forced to live in New Orleans for the rest of his life, and never see his home or his Mother again. No matter what Creighton chose to do, it would probably alter his future.

In response to Anthony O’s opinion, I don’t agree that Creighton could have left his uncle and left.. Anthony said that Creighton could have ditched his uncle, but Creighton didn’t really have much choice. Unless Creighton saved his uncle, he could not leave easily. Still, I would have stayed in New Orleans and left my uncle.

If I were in the same position that Creighton was in I would have broken my uncle out of jail. Creighton also could have said forget it and fled back to England. The Confederates could have put him in jail if they could have caught him. Creighton risked his life by saving his uncles.

Anthony O, I agree with your thoughts on saving Creighton’s uncle. I agree because I believe that in a life or death situation you should at least try to save someone else. This is why I agree with you and your thoughts.

No, I wouldn’t have broken my uncle out of jail. I wouldn’t have because as shown in earlier of the book his uncle gave Creighton no respect or dignity. Some other options Creighton had was just to leave him in jail and continue pretending who he is. He could’ve also just not have told his uncle the news he got from spying because that put him in danger and Benjamin Franklin died because of it. Even though Creighton did break his uncle out of jail he still didn’t get any thanks.

Jacqueline, i disagree with you because Creighton’s uncle is a very bad man. he kills many Americans just trying to fight for their country and he is very merciless. He deserves to stay in jail because of his horrible deeds. He is a bad man.

I am replying to what Abby W. said. I agree that I would not break my uncle out of prison if I was Creighton. He had not proven trustworthy in the past. Creighton had a great life set up for him in New Orleans. He didn’t need to go back home. If he did risk breaking his uncle out of jail he could have been captured and killed. Good thoughts Abby!

Definitely I agree with Anthony K. on few of his points. One of the points that I agree with him on is Creightons options to either stay in New Orleans or to try breaking his uncle out of jail and trying to get back to England. I also agree with him in the fact that the Americans would have killed him if they caught him or found out about it. That is why I agree with Anthony K.

I agree with Jackie F. statement that Creighton was right to break his uncle out of jail. Her insight seems to make sense, that Creighton would have tried to preserve the only family he had, the only way to escape from America, and probably the only way not to get killed. Although in the end, his decision did not work, I think that Creighton’s intentions, although not entirely trustworthy, were good intentions all the same. It seems that Creighton would have seen what was coming however, because of his uncle’s craftiness. I think that he should have thought his decision through a little bit more because of all of the things he knew about his Uncle. Despite his unforseen problems, however, I agree that what Creighton did was what any family member would do for another.

I agree with Madison H. that I would not have broken my uncle out of jail. He was not trustworthy. If he had treated me like that I might have given him away.

If I were Creighton, i would have not have broken my uncle out of jail. He was to untrustworthy and overall I didn’t like him. I wouldn’t have stolen a pistol for him, either. It would have been too dangerous and I wouldn’t have even known where to get one, other than from stealing it from Peter, which I wouldn’t do. I wouldn’t want to do anything that could cause me to be hanged for treason.

I would definatly get my uncle out of jail. Even though Creighton dislikes his uncles ideas and opinions. A couple other choices that Creighton could have made is that he just stays with Peter and Sophie. Another choice would be to go back home to his family. Even though freeing his uncle probably wans’t the best idea, he is Creighton’s family and it is very hard to leave a family member in jail. Though Creighton was very couragous for doing that, I would just visit my uncle sometimes knowing that he did the wrong thing. These are some other choices that Creighton could have made.

When Creighton broke his uncle out of jail, it was very nice of him. I would absolutely save my uncle from jail. Nobody should suffer in jail. Options Creighton could have done were to leave the man in jail. Creighton was defiantly putting his life in danger because if people found out about this he could’ve easily lost his life.

Dominic I agree with you. I would not have broken my uncle out of jail if he had behaved the way Creighton’s uncle did. Creighton’s uncle proved to be someone that just used people to get what he wants or needs. He just used Creighton to get out of jail and then left him behind.
