Creighton often describes America in a negative way – as a wilderness, a land without formal traditions and customs. Why do you think someone from England might think this about America at this time period?

  1. Jack Poupore Says:

Someone from England might have thought that America was a dump, dirt roads, smelly, poor, raggy clothes, and so many more.

  2. Jordan S Says:

I definitely understand why Creighton thinks America is so primitive. After all, England had been around for hundreds of years and had grown to be a succeessful country. America had only be discovery one hundred years earlier. The country had barely started and needed help. Creighton was right to think it was primitive.

  3. Julie L Says:

Someone from England in Creighton’s time period might think that the colonies are more primitive compared the England. They might think this because the colonies haven’t had what they cal people living in the colonies for very long. The Native Americans live there, but to them they are savages not people. That is another reason that they would think of the colonies as primitive. The wild animals running around and the swamping land in areas also makes the colonies seem like a primitive area to live.

  4. Dillon C. Says:

Creighton probably thinks of America in such a negative way, because they were at war with themselves. Civil war means that the country is at war with its self. So if you were in Creighton’s shoes, wouldn’t you think that that country is crazy. After all England Is far from America, so he could here rumors. that is why I think someone from England might think this.

  5. EthanH Says:

The english would have seen us as primitive because it was a starting country, without a whole lot of people. We were not very kind toward the british, and we were not as luxurious as england. Even in the 80’s, people would ask my mom as she was backpacking through Europe if they still rode horses.

  6. Anthony K. Says:

I think someone from England, that describes America as a wilderness and a land without formal traditions and customs, because of the politics, killing, kidnapping, and probably more. Back in the olden times, I don’t think that someone from england would describe America like Creighton did. Also, it is very different when you enter another state. Americans would probably think the same about England if we went there.

  7. meghanr Says:

The Americans were looked down upon by the English around the time of the Revolutionary War. This is because when America was first discovered is was a barren wilderness. The English looked down upon those who went to live there because those people where either lower class or were second and third sons. Though by the time of the Revolution the descendants of those people had become rich and had built cities much like the ones in England, the British still thought of them as barbarians. Though the English had no reason to look down on the Americans they spoke of them as if they where uncivilized fools.

  8. Sydney Carter 8B Says:

Someone from England would think that America was a garbage can. They would think that the Americans just litter and leave their stuff lying around. In that period, war was always going on, so the English would think that the Americans are all just enemies and that there is never any peace. If I were to come from England to America at that period of time, I would think that everything is so wild and over the top, I would see people being hung and people being shot. I would never want to visit.

  9. michael myers Says:

many people from england thought of america like this during the revolutianary war. one of the reasons is because they are going to war with america and want to spread bad rumors about them. also another reason ids because the brits spread rumors to get attention from the other brits. the americans probably spread the same rumors about england. this is what happens during times of war

  10. Michael S Says:

Crieghton has never been to America before this and has only heard stories. These stories have probably not been very positive because England was at a war with America. In losing this war america has made it known only as a feeble rebelion. Only if they won would it be known as a war. America also did manythings during the war that could be seen as either rebelious or barbaric depending on wether or not they won. One of these actions might have been the boston tea party. That is probably why english don’t like americans.

  11. Mackenzie E. Says:

At this time in history people from England did not like Americans a lot. I think this is because at this time we were becoming independent from England to become our own country. I can understand this because if we won our independence, the British would loose taxes and our resources in America. So that would be a reason for them to be angry at Americans. I can see where they are coming from because if I was British I would be mad too, however I think America deserved this independence.

  12. Alexia O Says:

I think that someone from England could think this about the United States today. I think this because they might have never been to the United States. If they have been to the United States, it may be because of their opinion. If you have never been to England, then you can’t judge its traditions. This is what I think someone from England might think about the United States today.

  13. Ellen S Says:

There are many reasons someone from that time wouldn’t agree with Americas state of life back then. A few reasons is that England had different almost like catagorize of people back then, the gentlemen, poor people, and so on. Also America was in a state of war, and the homes were abandoned and the scenery was not in the best shape. Last Crieghton might of thought that he U.S. was not what it was cracked up to be because, in England people were not as free as people her so people had the right to do anything they wanted. That is why Crieghton might hae been uncomfortable or unimpressed with America back then.

  14. Sarah F Says:

I think that someone from England might think that America is uncivilized, especially during this particular time period, because of the fact that they had just gone to war with each other. I think that this event puts a different perspective on their viewing because the English think that the Patriots are totally barbarous for trying to rebel against such a “perfect” government. The English also think of the Americans as uncivilized because of the way they fought the war. The English did not believe in using guerrilla-style warfare tactics because they preferred to fight out in the open. Another reason the English especially though the Patriots had no customs was because no matter what day, time, hour, or what had just happened, the Patriots were constantly attacking in order to try to gain an upper hand. Perhaps if a war had not just been fought between these two countries, they might have regarded each other with a more open mind to the culture of the other.

  15. Allie C. Says:

If someone came from England over to America today they might not picture it as a wilderness anymore (depending where they are). The reason why is because America is very devoloped right now there are cities pretty much everywhere you go. We do have some formal traditions like going to mass on Sunday morning, going to school everyday during the week unless there is a holiday, and etc. The English don’t like us so I don’t really think they would like America even if it was really cool and everything. That is what I think the English would think about us today.

  16. Jillian L Says:

I think someone from England might think this about America at this time period because the country was brand new compared to Great Britain. It was a new terrain and new weather many of the British had not experianced. They also had heard rumors all the way over the great pond we call the Atlantic Ocean so they could never be quite sure what was in America. Also, many British people thought highly of their people and their country. Most people who thought of America as lowly had never been there before anyways.

  17. Natalie D (8B) Says:

Someone from England might think this about America at this time because they probably thought it was better from what they thought. The English would think that also because they haven’t been to America and they would feel that is isn’t ‘right’, England is a totally different place then America, but you never know what it is like unless you’ve been there. Picturing it in your mind, you probably will have a mental picture like England if you lived in England. That is why someone from England might think that about America.

  18. NICKM Says:

Many English believed that America was a treacherous forest with wild animals wandering around all over. There are a number of reasons they may have thought of this. First is that many had never been and just expected it for the worst. Next the may have been angry because America had revolted against England. The last reason may have been that the British had only heard rumors of America and really had no idea what it would be like there. Britain probably just misunderstood what America was really like.

  19. Jack D Says:

I think someone from England would think this because America was so unknown to them. They probably heard about the Indians that were there and automatically thought that America was a savage and wild place. America was also very far away from England. Across the Atlantic Ocean lied a huge country unknown to England. England was probably a very rich country and they thought they were probably better then every other country, including America. Rumors were probably going around England about the foreign place, but not a lot of people really knew what to find when going to America.

  20. Bridgette Strzok Says:

Creighton often describes America in a negative way – as a wilderness, a land without formal traditions and customs. Why do you think someone from England might think this about America at this time period?

Well, comming from a wealthy life and family, Creighton had never been used to seeing or living in such a low poor place. And, he may have also been introduced to the unlikeness of America from his friends also. They mostlikely have talked about America, and made up stuff about America to also enphasise on the fact of America being such a lowly thought of place.

  21. Shannon e Says:

English people are not used to a little land. The people in America were poor then so the houses were not as big as the one in England. Also America at the time was new and England was more developed. America was also unknown to the English. That is what I think about the English thinking America is not that great.

  22. Jacqueline M 8b Says:

Creighton described America in a negative way, and I can see why. Back then, America wasn’t considered rich or high class. Many people had never been to America, but just assumed it was junky and wild because of rumors and their own thoughts. America was fairly new and hadn’t been established as well as England. War was still going on during that period and things were crazy. We had no customs or traditions compared to the British, so to them America was foreign. I probably would have had the same opinion and thoughts about America if I had been living in England around that time.

  23. Nick D 8B Says:

I think someone from England might think this about an Americans because the British culture is much more safisticated. The American culture is much more laid back and raggy. That is why someone from England would say that about an American.

  24. Tommy E. Says:

Someone from England might have thought of America in that way because England was such an organized and elite country. The United States was struggling with uniting as a country. America at that time was a very new and inexperienced country. England on the other hand had been along for a very long time and was very powerful.

  25. Julian D Says:

Englishmen like Creighton seem to have a negative view of America. England is looked on as a big, wealthy country that conquers many places. America to them probably sounds like wilderness with nothing on it when it is compared to English cities. America probably sounds like a distant land to them that isn’t as powerful. Plus, they have probably heard stories of Indians and Yankees in America. They probably got their idea of America from stories.

  26. Jacob H. Says:

Some one from England probably would have thought many bad things about America. They would have probably thought that America was a barren county where nothing but thieves and poor people live. They would have thought that England was the proper way of living. They think thought it was a primitive place.

  27. TOMR Says:

I think the British people would think this because America is just another one of their colonies. The British had so many colonies throughout the world they might have thought America was like some colony in Southern Asia were people lived in huts. Also they might have thought negatively about America because Americans tried getting their independence so the British thought they were unsophisticated savages.

  28. Christian Fischer Says:

I think someone from England would think this because America is a very new country. America is not as developed as England is. Also America was poor at that time. We had smaller houses and not as nice clothes like the English had. English people also did not know a lot about America too. They also may have though of America that way because the English were about to go to war against us. That is why I think England saw us not as great as them.

  29. nate h Says:

People in England thought of America as poor place, and as a wilderness. People in America weren’t that wealthy, so their houses weren’t as fancy as English homes. America was a new country and full of wilderness, and some of the towns were built in more rural than urban areas. The English didn’t like that. I also think that the English didn’t like them because they were not willing to give up on their cause, and the English were tired of their rebellion. That is why the English think of America in a negative way.

  30. AndrewM Says:

Creighton and many other Englanders probably thought this about America because they were kindof at war, so people kindof wanted to believe it. Also propaganda if you are at war with a country you want to make civillians think that you are fighting barbarian like people. That is why people thought this about America

  31. Anthony O. Says:

Someone from England would have probably thought about America in this way because they know America is run by rebells. They might think that they are filthey and thinking that they would never be able to run a country. This is why a person from England might think America is a dump.

  32. BEN Says:

This is why i think someone from England would think something like this about America. First the British where at war with the Americans so it is easy for them to talk bad about America. Second The English think of the Americans as traitors and rebels and it is easy for them to picture the homeland of the rebels like the Americans as a savage wilderness without the same similarities as England. Finally America had not been a country for very long and most of the British new only what they had heard about it. That is why i think someone from England would think that about America.

  33. Matthew G 8B Says:

This is why someone from England might think that way about America during this time period. They would think that because America is somewhat new and not everything is known about it yet. English people were also currently at war with America so they would obviously not say that it is a wonderful and well-mannered place. Some of the English were also telling lies because some had probably never been there. Another reason is that some British soldiers did not see the nice places in America. Some probably only saw swamps and bogs.

  34. Jennie D. Says:

I understand why Creighton feels that America is a “dump”. Back then, America wasn’t very well put together, and needed some work. After all, it was a brand new country with about twenty states. Along with that, England has been around much longer than America has. I understand why Creighton said what he said because to him, England was his home, and he loved it. Everyone has opinions on places that may be negative; but that’s just what people do. We think of places like Mexico and Africa can be a dump. That is why I think Creighton thought of America in a negative way.

  35. Elias Newcomb Says:

Creighton sees America as a land od wilderness without any formal traditions and customs because at that time American was not yet a developed country. England had been around much longer and had obiviously acquired many fine things from all its travels

England had many musicians, writers, and painters. America had none of these things when Crehigton came the America

  36. Abby W Says:

Someone from England might say these things about America for many differnet reasons. The main reason of course would be, because the two countries are at war. Who wouldn’t say something like that to a country they obvilousy didn’t want to be in or have anything to do with? Also, America had bascially just become a country! So there wasn’t much to see or have anything fancy to see like back in England. This is what I think someone would say if they were from England and had just come to America.

  37. Juliana C Says:

If someone from England came to America for the first time in the time period of the book, they definetely think of America in a negative way. America was fairly new and looked very primitive next to England. Only some houses were made out of bricks, the roads were dirt, it was pretty dirty, and the people weren’t as refined as they are in England. That’s probably why Creighton thought of America like he did.

  38. Ryan S Says:

A person from England might think this because he has never seen America and America is actually very nice and i bet someone from America thinks that England isn’t nice because they’ve never seen England.

  39. Allison C Says:

I understand why Creighton felt this way towards America. He was very used to the way England was, for one thing. He probably didn’t understand America very well. America was still developing compared to England which had been around for hundreds of years. England had grown into a very successful country. This is why I understand what Creighton is saying.

  40. ethan brooks Says:

I think the English person might think slightly diffrent know. They might think we had a few traditions. But maybe not as many as they do. I would think they might think were not traditional or something like that. Still we do have some traditions like celebrating the fourth of July. Also most people celebrate Christmas. That is what I think English people would think of the U.S.

  41. Dominic B. Says:

Well Creighton though that America was like a wilderness at the time period. I think he said it since America really hasn’t been around for that much. It has recently been discovered and there is not much there. He probably hasn’t learned much about it in school to know how it is actually like. Or he just hasn’t been there. But like Creighton, you can’t assume if you don’t know any facts because the facts will surprise you.

  42. Whitney H (8a) Says:

There are many reason why people from England may have regarded to America this way back then. One reason would be that it was a fairly new country at the time and people didn’t think that much was here. Another reason would be because of stories people might have heard from people who had visited America. People also may have judged America wrongly because they were at war with us at the time and they wanted to make their own assumptions about it even though they had never been to America.

  43. Jake O Says:

I think someone from England would talk negatively about America because they don’t know what it’s like. They’ve probably never been there so they just guessed that it was bad because of what they heard about it. They probably heard about all the bad things but not about the good things, so they think it’s not good at all. Most English people back then probably thought America was bad. That is why I think Creighton talked about America in a negative way.

  44. Lauren G Says:

I can definitely agree with Creighton when he says that America is a primitive land. I probably wouldn’t have wanted to live in America during this time period, either. England considers America uncivilized because they rebelled against the English and began our own system. The English might also think so little of the Americans because parts of the land were very swampy and boggy whereas England had large cities and had been around for a long time before America. These are a few reasons England thought of America as uncivilized.

  45. Darian D Says:

Creighton was describing America in a negative way which is understandable. Someone from England would think this about America at this time period because the United States was a newer country compared to England. America is somewhat unknown and it is a wilderness because we didn’t have as much here as there was in England. And he isn’t wrong about our land not having formal traditions and customs because we are so new and having established everything yet. In conclusion, if I had heard negative comments from people in England, I would think and actually agree.

  46. Kate K Says:

I think English people thought about America in a negative way because they are people who are against the English. So really important people in England might spread bad rumors about America to make themselves look better. The government probably wants America to look like rebels who are doing the wrong thing. This is why I think people in England think this way about America.

  47. heidi h. Says:

English might think this of America because American as the new world at the time. People did not know what it was like. It also had very little civilization. They had just stared building. There were also lots of Indians and wildlife because of the coast and the right climate.

  48. Tyler S. Says:

Creighton often describes America in a negative way as a wilderness, a land without formal traditions and customs. I think that this is because at that time period America was exactly that. There soldiers didn’t have uniforms, there weren’t cobbled streets or oil powered street lamps, nor were there old historic sights that our rich in history. America also did not have big fancy castles like England, and no actual government existed because they were still fighting for their freedom. These our some reasons that Creighton described America in such a bad way.

  49. scout a Says:

People from England would probably think a lot of different things about America. Since America was a way newer country, the cities weren’t as developed as the ones in England and probably were a lot smaller. They might have thought that America was a dump or trashy. They were used to a higher society than the one in America.

  50. Kevin V Says:

English people didn’t particularly like the Americans back during the Revolutiony War. They probably saw America as primitive, uncivilized, and a poor place to live.

  51. Dylan T. Says:

I think Creighton thought all these bad thoughts about America because he heard a lot of bad things about it before he went there and a lot of people from England might think that so he would want to fit into the crowd. People from England would think America wouldn’t be a nice place because America was probably in war at the time. Americans didn’t have the time to be cleaning the streets and making sure everything was in order. England was probably making some of the things up that they said about America. They could have just wanted to get people to pay attention to them.

  52. Madison H. Says:

I think someone from England would think that about America at this time period because back then England had better housing, education, and America was a newer country. They also didn’t like the Americans back then because they thought they were better than us and thought we were poor people. They had better housing because most people in America just lived in wood cabins and most people in England had colonial houses. They had better education than us because America was a newer country. That is why someone from England might think that about America at this time period.

  53. Jackie F. Says:

I completely understand why Creighton thinks America is so disgusting and undeveloped. Creighton comes from a very wealthy family in a country he has grown up with all of his life. During this time period, England was a very wealthy country with many buildings and advanced objects. America was just beginning to build itself. It was just colonized by England, and while England had over 100 years to build itself, America had just started building and expanding. There were not many people at all in America, while England seemed to be exploding with people. Creighton was just not used to a new place that had just recently been found.

  54. Justice Ramos Says:

A person from England might think this about America because they have not yet seen the other side of America. The only people that were there at this time were the Native Americans. The Native Americans didn’t cut down the trees so that’s why they would say its wilderness. It is a new land to the English so they would describe it differently because they have just arrived.

  55. Maddie S. Says:

I can understand why British people at this time would think that America was primitive. After all, England had been around for hundreds and hundreds of years, whereas America had been a country for little more than a few decades. In England, the rich and high in society lived in huge manors, sometimes with more than one house; in America you were lucky if your house was made of bricks. England looked down on America, the same way we might look down on some one younger than us. In a sense America was born from England, most Americans were originally from England. I think most English felt that Americans were rebels without a cause, because in their mind England was a perfectly good country.

  56. Haley G. Says:

I think the English didn’t have a very good idea about Americans at the time. America was just starting out and England has been around even longer. To them we looked like a very poor place to live, like people would have to be out of their minds to live there. We weren’t quite dependent on the goods we needed. The English probably saw a bunch of forests, inhabited with Indians, and cities in the middle of no where. That is what I the England thought of America in Creighton’s time period.

  57. Christopher G Says:

There are many different reason why someone from England might consider America a dump. One reason could be since America is such a new country there are not many roads, when in England which is much older then America there are many roads. Another reason would be that the towns are much smaller then the ones in England. A couple other reasons are that someone of high class like Creighton would not be use to liveing a middle class society like America. Those are few reasons why i think that someone would consider America a dump.

  58. Kait E. Says:

Creighton thought American in a negative way for many reasons. One reason he thought this was a land without formal traditions and customs was because he never actually knew what was going on in America. Creighton didn’t know about the struggles the Americans were going through. The land in America was just beginning to be developed and built. Anyone from England would have thought this about America. Most people who thought this had never even set foot in America so they didn’t know what it was really like. The English looked down on America because they, themselves were more advanced than America at the time. Many people would and still think this about places they’ve never seen.

  59. Megan S Says:

I undersant why Creighton feels this way because he has never been there and he has heard it is a dump.
I think the some people form England might think America is wilderness because the way they were grown up and by what they have been reading. In newspapers they might not say what America is like they just make it up and build an image in people’s mind in England so they don’t want to go over to America.

  60. Rachel W Says:

I think Creighton describes America in such negative ways because he has lived in England almost all of his life. The places in England are so much more older than America is because America is almost new found land. Everything in America is probably new but not yet finished yet, and there aren’t a lot of buildings and the animals are running wildly free and the swamps. He also is used to differant customs than the Americans.

  61. Nat B. Says:

During the times of the Revolutionary War the English, especially the children, were taught that Americans weren’t civilized and that because they left England the Americans were inferior to them. When the Americans first tried to declare independence the British really didn’t know what they were trying to do because England had been around for centuries, and no one knew how they would go about becoming independent. The majority of English people had never been to America so the only things they knew about it were what other people told them, so it was easy to tell people America was a dump. The Americans were also not very friendly to the English during the Revolutionary War. English and American life were both very different, so neither groups of people knew what the other people’s life was like.

  62. Brennan T Says:

I think that people from England would talk negativley about America because they think that a lot of them are traitors. They would also think that England would be so much better than america because it is a new country and would be insignificant to Englih people. The English also didnt like America because of the rebels who were not loyal to the king. This is why English would always think so highly of there country and so low of America.

  63. Bentley B. Says:

I think that someone from England might think of America as a wilderness or a land without formal traditional and customs because they never got to see the colonies that much. Also they only could hear things in the colonies through word of mouth so some words were twisted and changed around. Lastly most people in England did not like the Americans because of some of the events leading up to the American Revolution.

  64. Elias Newcomb Says:

Tyler Snell is right when he points out that when Creighton came to America it was a wilderness. There was not a whole lot of people living here except some Native Americans. When the English came, they brought over music, writing, paintings, and many modern inventions. If Creighton were to see America now I am sure he would not think of it as wilderness anymore.

  65. heidi h. Says:

I agree with scout that people from England would probably thing a lot differently of American. Creighton was shocked to see the not devolved town. He is used to a higher society. At the time England was much richer than America. With all the destruction and war going on is was a culture shock to Creighton because he could not handle the difference. He was still adjusting. To Creighton American was dumpy and trashy.

  66. Elizabeth G. 8A Says:

I think someone from England would describe America in a negative way at that time period because, first off, the English were known to be extremely proper, and the Americans were more lade back and not so proper about everything. Secondly, because America was still growing and had been colonized only some time before, they did not have traditions and customs that dated back for centuries. Many colonists came to America because they wanted more freedom from the King and Parliament, and if you were English it was considered very wrong to say bad things about the King. I think the main reason why an English person would think negatively about America is because since the Americans did not agree with taxes, or a lot of what the King demanded or thought, they would rebel. So, I think many English people, especially the wealthier English families like Creighton’s, believed America was a land inhabited by a bunch of rebels.

  67. Dominic B Says:

Well Creighton though that America was like a wilderness at the time period. I think he said it since America really hasn’t been around for that much. It has recently been discovered and there is not much there. He probably hasn’t learned much about it in school to know how it is actually like. Or he just hasn’t been there. But like Creighton, you can’t assume if you don’t know any facts because the facts will surprise you.

  68. Sarah F Says:

I am responding to Jack P’s statement that people in England thought that America was a dump, that America was dirty and poor. However, I think that this is not the complete reason. I think that along with being dirty and smelly, that the people in England thought that America was uncivilized because they had tried to rebel against what the Englanders thought was a “perfect” government. Something else they might have thought was that Americans were stupid for tryig to win a war when they were outnumbered. However, in later time periods, they may have found out the truth!

  69. I fully agree with bentley’s statement. Words could have been twisted which could lead people in New England to think that America is a dump. Also People in New England hate America so they can just say that this is a dump. that why i agree with Bentley’s statement.

  70. Alexia O Says:

I think that Meghan R is correct about saying that when the colonies were discovered that it was a pretty barren wilderness. But England was not always the way it was today.

  71. Nat B. Says:

I agree with what Jennie D. said completely, but I would add some other reasons too. Like, maybe Creighton just knew nothing about America so he didn’t know what to think about it, or the English assumed the Americans were incompetent people who lived in shacks. The British also had a chip on their shoulder against the Americans because of the “rebellion”/Revolutionary War. The English thought that the Americans didn’t know what they were talking about when they said that they should become a free country.

  72. Haley G. Says:

I agree with Brennan T- The English probably thought of America as traitors because America rebelled against England. England probably thought they were so much better than America. Also we would still have to gain respect of England, which they did not have at the time. They thought their government was perfect and did not understand why anyone would want it any diferent.

i agree with Jordan S. I agree with her for many reason as she has stated. She said that creighton has grown up in England all his life, and that England had been around for hundreds of years. She states America had only be discovery one hundred years earlier. And I agree fully with Jordan, but I also think he has been mislead about America from the people he has talked to about it. Creighton was right to think it was primitive, and this is why I agree with Jordans.

  74. Maddie S. Says:

Darian D, I agree with you on why Creighton thought America was primitive. You are correct; England had been around for many years, whereas America was a relatively new country. You make a good point about America not having any traditions, I had not thought about that. I also agree with you that America could have been considered a wilderness, but I think America wasn’t quite so uncivilized. If I had been from England at that time, I too would have felt the same way.

  75. BEN S. Says:

This is why i think most English people describe America in a negative way. First the English have recently been at war with the Americans and it was easier for them to say negative things about America tan positive ones. Second they considered America very uncivilized because they had rebelled against England. Finally, most of the English had not been to America and only knew what they heard about it which were the negative highlights. That is why i think most of the English thought of America in a negative way at the time.

  76. Allison C Says:

I agree with Haley G, America proabably did look like a poor place to live. I agree with the statement that the English probably didn’t have a very good idea of America. Seeing cities in the middle of no where with Indians and forests all around was a good way to describe what the people from England would have seen.

  77. Grace K Says:

At the time being, England was more developed and not as new as America. I can see where Creighton would describe America in a negative way. America was kind of scatterd about at this time and not put together well. The English probably saw us as disorganized and a weak country.

  78. Grace K Says:

I agree with you Justice R. I think that you are correct when you said, that the Native Americans didnt cut down the tree’s so it may have looked like everything was ran wild and not grommed, and set out properly.

  79. ali s Says:

I agree with Haley G, America probably did look like a poor and cheaper place to live. I agree with the statement that the English probably didn’t have a very good idea of America. There wasn’t very much. There were natives and immigrants around that time.
